(La Crosse, WI) . . . Congressional Candidate Dan Kapanke will report receiving over $183,000 in contributions since beginning his campaign this past summer, a record amount for a challenger in the Third Congressional District.

"We know that challenging a seven-term incumbent like Congressman Ron Kind will be an uphill battle," said Kapanke.  "However, the overwhelming, in-district support our campaign has received is a strong message that business as usual in Washington D.C. is no longer acceptable."

Thus far, Kapanke’s campaign has received over 90% of its donors from the Third Congressional District.

"Our campaign is off to a fast start built on grassroots support," said Kapanke.  "I believe that people in Western Wisconsin are engaged in the political process like never before and will continue to be so right up to November 2.  They will be the difference in this race, not out-of-district monies or Washington influence."

"It is time the people take back Congress and a grassroots campaign will do just that," concluded Kapanke.

Prior to being elected to the Wisconsin State Senate in 2004, Kapanke worked in the agri-business field for 25 years.  He and his wife of 40 years, Ruth, are also co-owners of the La Crosse Loggers, a summer collegiate baseball team of the Northwoods League.  More information about Kapanke can be found at www.kapankeforcongress.com.
