Kapanke lauds participation, not violence

Dan Kapanke told an audience of 15 people in Tomah Thursday he’s optimistic about the political process and the ability of the people to change Congress and the federal government.
In a separate interview, however, he distanced himself from two audience members who raised the specter of violence.

Federal government spending is out of control, State Sen. Dan Kapanke, R-La Crosse, said during a campaign stop last Thursday in Hudson.
“They maxed out one credit card at $12.4 trillion and then they bought another one,” Kapanke said of the recent act by Congress raising the nation’s debt limit by $1.9 trillion.
“We’ve got to stop. We’re out of money,” he said.
